Create with passion

Be eager, determined, and no matter how tedious it may seem at times, keep pushing. Be zealous, push and be devoted to your project. Others of us can tell you whether or not you are serious about your work progress. Never rush, set time blocks so you can take your time and not leave any loose ends, finish what you start. I try to do one project at a time. When you tend to bounce, you leave loose ends everywhere. You want to start and finish and move on to the next. Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have an order or a daily plan. Like a 9-5 away from home, choose a block of time that is strictly dedicated to your project every day from start to finish. Let your answering service take messages and hang up the phone – in fact, turn off all distractions so you can stay focused. Sometimes I like to listen to music when I’m working on something, but even sometimes, if it distracts me, I don’t hesitate to cut it off.

Organization is the key for things to flow. A place for everything and everything in its place so you don’t waste time at work looking for things. Put it all in your workspace like an assembly line.

When you take pride in your work, you protect it. Keep finished projects covered, accidents happen. All it takes is a cup of coffee or soda knocked over something you’re preparing to cause a mess, especially if it’s something made from materials that stain easily. Eat and drink before or after starting work, better safe than sorry. In general, work at a pace and daily schedule that is good for you so you don’t burn out. Find a way to balance your time as a homemaker or stay-at-home mom so that you can take care of your children, your home, and your crafts. Once in a while, take some time for yourself. There is nothing wrong with a short break or two during the day to give your brain and body a rest. Just develop a system and try to stick with it. Remember that the more persistent and consistent you are in developing your craft, the faster and larger your inventory will grow.
