Is the Yahoo overture gone forever? Here’s what to do about it

Inventory.Overture.com — where did it go?

I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this, but I’ve been monitoring inventory.overture.com since last night and still haven’t been able to access it.

So what does it all mean?

The internet is a fast animal and change is everywhere. We all need to learn to adapt and grow as needed, and that’s what we’re doing now with respect to Inventory.Overture.com and their market research.

So, I’ve put together some FREE keyword tools that are working. Some of these use the overture database, but that’s okay since they’re still working right now.

I recommend using these tools in the order I recommend, as it gets more “complicated” as you go down the list. Please note that these are not affiliate links!

1.PixelFast

This overture-based tool seems to still work. I recommend using it first, as it will give you the same results as Inventory.Overture.com. Simply type your keyword phrase in the box at the top left corner and click GO.

After this, you will be prompted to enter the security code to verify that you are a human performing the search (not a robot!). Type the security code you are given and click search.

You will see that your screen is divided into 2 halves. What we are looking for is on the right side of the screen. If you get an error message or a server busy message on the right side of the screen, simply click the try again button or redo your search by typing your keyword phrase in the search box at the top left of screen and click continue.

If this tool doesn’t work, go to the next tool below.

2. ERV Toolbar

This tool also uses the Overture database. To use it, simply type your keyword phrase in the search box and click Suggest. If you get an error message, keep clicking Suggest until the results are displayed.

If this tool doesn’t work, move on to the next one.

3. Domain Country

This tool is valuable and gives you 2 different database results for your key phrases. To perform a search, type your key phrase in the search box and press ENTER on your keyboard. There is no search button that I have seen so you will have to press ENTER to perform the search.

Look at the results as they appear on the right side of the page. This is what you should base your market research on.

If that tool fails, this is your next best option.

4. Niche Taxi

WARNING: There is a photo of a scantily clad woman on this site. It’s nothing we don’t see on the TV broadcast every day, but I just wanted to let you know before you click the link.

However, as a tool, Niche Taxi works very well. Just type your keyword phrase in the search box and click OK. Don’t forget to check the box under the search box that says: “I accept the Nichetaxi.com Terms and Conditions”. From there, Niche Taxi will give you a list of results. You can then narrow your search further by clicking through the results and “digging” deeper.

A great feature of Niche Taxi is that it gives you advice on whether or not you have found a niche. However, don’t worry about this. Many times they will say that you don’t have a niche, even when you do. Just focus on the search terms per month.

If this tool doesn’t do it for you, this is your next best option.

5. Classic Bot Niche

Type the keyword phrase in the search box and click search. You will get 10 results with numbers indicating how many searches were performed in the last month. From there, you can click on the words to go deeper into the niche.

This site only gives 10 results at a time, so it’s not the best. But it’s FREE!

6. Google Keyword Tool

This is the research tool that Google has created. While it has many great benefits, such as access to Google’s database, the results displayed are often difficult to understand or understand.

This latest tool is something that could end up becoming the new “free” keyword research tool in the event Overture is officially shut down. I don’t want to confuse you too much and spend too much time on this unless you have to.

Here is a brief description of how to use this tool. The only problem with this is that you don’t get the actual number of searches per month, you get a graph that shows a 1-5 based on monthly search volume.

Towards the middle of the page, you will see a box that says: “Enter one keyword or phrase per line:”

In the box below that line, type your keyword(s). Keep in mind that you can perform more than one keyword search at a time, but I recommend that you limit yourself to one.

Type your keyword phrase in the box and click Get More Keywords. From here you will see 4 rows of data.

Row 1 is the keyword results. Row 2 is the monthly search volume. Row 3 is the number of people competing in this market, and row 4 is something we don’t need to know right now; d.

The main thing you’ll see is Row 2. Row 2 tells us how many people have searched for that term in the last month. The longer the green in the box, the higher the number of searches.

Watch for a higher search volume for your main keyword and then a smaller search volume for your niche keywords within those phrases.

For example, using “Make money”.

The term “Make money” has a search volume of 5 (basically, this means that the search volume box is completely filled). However, other keyword phrases like “Make money from home” and “Make money working from home” have less search volume.

It’s important to note that search volume ranges from 1 to 5. You won’t see these numbers, but you can tell by looking at the amount of green in the boxes below Row 2.

For what we’re doing, you can ignore rows 3 and 4 entirely.

And this is how to use the Google Keyword Tool.

There you have it. Go ahead and start again to find that perfect niche market.

Happy search.
