Purple and Gold Eye Makeup Tutorial

Is there a wedding or a big party in your future? I bet you already picked out your dress, shoes, jewelry, and hairstyle. But have you thought about your makeup? There is nothing worse than having to rush and improvise your makeup at the last minute! Avoid unnecessary stress and take a makeup essay to validate your color choices and find out how long it takes to get ready.

A party is the perfect time to glam up your makeup. When choosing your colors, take inspiration from your outfit, but be sure to add a splash of colorful glitter in the center of the lid as a finishing touch. If you’re looking for makeup inspiration, here’s a step-by-step tutorial for one of my favorite party looks: purples and gold eyeshadows, paired with black eyeliner and mascara.

1. Prepare your skin

It all starts with great skin. Cleanse your face every night, no matter how tired you are, and apply a nourishing night cream. In the morning, after cleansing and toning your face, apply a moisturizer with SPF 15 or higher. Wait until your moisturizer is fully absorbed to avoid streaks.

2. Apply primer and base

For a special occasion, if you don’t want your makeup to smudge, I recommend using a primer that will make your makeup last longer. Apply whatever foundation you want, either liquid or powder, starting the application where you want the most coverage, usually on the cheeks, then lightly coat the rest of the face and neck, until you are satisfied with the coverage. Use less foundation near the eyes to minimize lines.

3. Spice up your cheeks

Apply the blush sparingly and with a light touch, covering the cheekbone and using the center of the eye as the starting point of your application. The upward sweep will give the illusion of pulling your face up, slimming down. Be careful not to apply the blush too far below the cheekbone, as this will visually pull the face. Always slide in one direction to avoid scratches. If you’ve applied too much blush, you can tone it down with a touch of finishing powder.

4. Hide dark circles

A mild mineral concealer will not clog your pores and will cover those dark circles or small skin blemishes.

5. Apply the eyeshadow

Put a light purple eyeshadow on the entire upper eyelid, the inner corner of the eye and under the brow to highlight and open the eye. Dip the tip of a smudging brush into deep purple eyeshadow. Apply the color to the outer corner of the eye and along the crease to add depth. Mix it up so there are no rough edges and everything looks perfect. Add a touch of shimmering gold eyeshadow to the center of the lid.

6. Line the eyes

Line the upper and lower lash line with black eyeliner, extending the line on the upper eyelid to create a wing. Using a thin eyeliner brush, dab some gold eyeshadow under the lower lash line to add extra shine.

7. Curl your lashes and apply mascara

Curling your lashes can produce spectacular results. Your eyes will instantly look bigger and more awake. A good mascara can also make your eyes look bigger in no time. Apply one coat on all lashes. When applying the second coat, focus on the center to make the eyes appear larger. Use a fine wand mascara for precision and to avoid clumping.

8. Apply lipstick and lip gloss.

Finish off your look with a bold lipstick. For added shine, add a touch of lip gloss on top of your lipstick.

9. Enjoy the party

You don’t have to worry about your makeup now! They are all beautiful and ready to be the attraction of the party! Relax and have fun!
