Never quit a winning streak

There are only a couple of “nevers” that apply to casino table games. One of them is NEVER put your hand in your pocket to bet more than your original buy-in, the other is NEVER GET OUT OF A WINNING STRET.

A winning streak can come at any time and last for any duration. You just don’t know, so you have to play until it’s done.

Maybe it’s just a race at a particular table, or maybe it’s a full game session, or maybe it’s the whole weekend, but until you start losing, keep playing!

Let me share a story about one of my winning steaks. It lasted a whole day and it was the best day I have ever played in my life.

It wasn’t the most money I’ve ever made, but it was the best streak I’ve ever been on.

Just to set the story line; We flew to Vegas on a Friday night planning to stay until Sunday afternoon, my bankroll was $ 1500 and my table buy-in was $ 100.

We had a bumpy weekend through Saturday night and we were almost even.

We got up on Sunday morning and after breakfast we checked out of the hotel, dropped off our bags with the bell captain and planned to play a few tables before heading to the airport for our flight home in the afternoon.

We were staying in downtown Golden Nugget and decided to walk to the Union Plaza Hotel and give it a try … this is where the streak started … I hit a craps table for around $ 3500, had a “helluva” run. We went back up the street to the Golden Nugget and played another craps table for about $ 900, then we crossed the street to The Horseshoe and played a blackjack table for another $ 150.

By then, my pocket was full of money, so I gave my wife everything that wasn’t $ 100 bills. We called it the “crumbs.”

The winning streak continued ALL day, and everything that wasn’t $ 100 bills went into my wife’s purse. Every time I played that day I won $ 180, $ 240, $ 460, $ 1290, $ 130 and so on.

We use the “crumbs” to eat our meals and pay the expenses we had that day. I think we stopped in for a shrimp cocktail about four times.

We obviously changed our flight back and checked into the hotel for the night.

Finally, at some point that night, I lost at two or three tables in a row. The streak was over.

When we got to the room, my wife emptied her purse and had over $ 900 in “crumbs” … and I had thousands in $ 100 bills.

What a day that has been! What a winning streak that was!

If I had stopped playing due to my flight schedule, I could have gone home a winner due to the first table, but it would not have ended with the thousands that I took home. I would have left the streak before it was over and never would have known what I missed. But, because I took it to the end, I MAXIMIZED my winnings and had one of the best gaming days of all time.

Like life itself, you need to have a game plan and be prepared to take advantage of whatever situation you may find yourself in.

Know your game. Know your way.
