Billie Eilish: The World is a Little Fuzzy Movie Review

If you’re a fan of Billie Eilish, I don’t see that you’re disappointed in the recent documentary called The world is a bit blurry. Far from being blurry, this movie takes a very deep and personal look at Billie’s life during the formative years of the young star’s life.

The camera takes us behind the scenes to his brother’s bedroom and gives us an intimate look at the process of recording the songs and the very act of creating and inspiring them. We see Billie and Finneas going over lines and rehearsing lyrics and the very creation of the words that will become a finished song. This look at the artistic endeavor is invaluable and allows us as an audience to get a very personal insight into the songwriters’ creative process that we simply wouldn’t get otherwise. I found it personally rewarding as a creative person to see how easily and with practice lines that have become famous in songs were born and created. I have to say that this behind-the-scenes look at the creative process was one of the best parts of the documentary for me.

We get to see Billie’s family up close and personal, and we meet a mother who haunts and is an intimate part of everything Billie does and is a part of. Her mother is present while she creates songs, eats, travels the world and is there before and after her appearances on stage. We see very clearly in this film that Billie is not going to be allowed the “luxury” of drug or alcohol abuse, as the closeness of her mother and father to her in everything she does simply would not allow it to happen.

For his fans who have a deep understanding of his music and a great appreciation of his songs, they will be impressed with the number of songs shown in this film and his live concert appearances. What I found disturbing were Billie’s injuries and the toll that dancing on stage takes on her frail body. She had her heart in her throat as the film captured Billie breaking her ankle in one of her performances and then returning to the stage to sing while sitting down. What really impressed me was the energy that Billie puts into her performances and her desire to put on a great show every time for her fans.

As we watch Billie and listen to her, we come to the conclusion that Billie truly loves her fans and only wants the best for them, whether it’s putting on the best show or meeting them face to face and touching and hugging each other. lucky few Billie doesn’t want to be a distant star who can’t be around her fans and we come to appreciate that in this heartwarming look at the star and her makeup.
