Buy your first fishing rod

Good, high-quality fishing gear is important, the first thing you want to have is a fishing rod. Many young anglers use a simple fishing rod, when they get older and more experienced anglers buy a good quality fishing rod and some really essential fishing gear.

How do you know which fishing rod is the best?

When I buy a quality rod, and I’ve already used a dozen in my fishing career, I look for three important factors. The length, the flexibility and the material that the fishing rod is made of are very important. For all of you beginning anglers, I’ll explain how and why I look at those three factors.

Does length matter?

When you go to buy a rod, the length is very important. The shorter the rod, the less action you will get. This is because a short rod generates less torque when winding and casting. It is probably best for a beginning angler to choose to add the longest rod. You will have a good casting distance when using the longer fishing rod.

Slow, fast or medium?

The flexibility of the rod is also a very important factor that you need to consider when buying a fishing rod. The amount of action a rod will give is very important because it will tell you how stiff or flexible a rod is when you reel in or cast a line. There are three types of rods available for your consideration.

1. The fast action rod. This one is stiff compared to the slow action rod. It has the least amount of curvature when you cast or actual a line.

2. Medium action rod. This is a great option if you are a beginner angler, it falls between the slow action and fast action fishing rod.

3. Slow action rod. This one is very flexible and bends almost close to the handle.

Graphite or fiberglass?

There are many different types of materials, but titanium, wood, boron, bamboo, graphite, and fiberglass are the most common materials used for fishing rods today. Graphite and fiberglass are

the most popular materials of the six. In my opinion, you should start your fishing career with one of these two materials for a fishing rod. The advantages of a fiberglass or graphite rod are:

they can withstand considerable stress, are flexible, and weigh next to nothing. Of the two, I think the fiberglass rod is the best to start with. This because they can be used in all types of fishing.

terms. Also, they are more durable and wear better than graphite fishing rods. Graphite fishing rods are more expensive than fiberglass fishing rods.

So I recommend most beginning anglers to buy a long, medium action fiberglass rod. One thing to consider when shopping for a fishing rod is a good quality bag. This is just as important as the rod itself. A rod bag ensures that you can get the most out of your rod and keeps it clean and safe. Another thing to consider is fishing rod holders. Fishing rod holders make sure you can relax and make sure your rod doesn’t fly away when a fish bites. There are many different rod holders available. There is one that can be mounted on your truck, but the most common are rods used on small fishing boats. There are portable rod holders that can be mounted on almost all small fishing boats.
