Caribbean calls – Jamaica

Visitors flock to Jamaica for its beauty, but it’s also home to Red Stripe beer, Rastafarianism and, of course, James Bond. As an independent country in the Greater Antilles, Jamaica has the distinction of being the third largest island in the Caribbean.

Ocho Rios is a port of call for many cruise ships where tourists disembark for a walk along the beautiful beaches of Ocho Rios. This is definitely one of the main tourist spots.

A short drive from Ocho Rios, you can stay in one of the Goldeneye villas. The name comes from Ian Fleming, the creator and writer of the James Bond novels. In fact, he wrote them in a villa he called Goldeneye. A short distance away is the James Bond beach.

Dunn’s River Falls is a place worth a visit. This is Jamaica’s renowned national treasure and one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world. The water pouring down on you is like getting a massage and climbing the falls is possible in a guided ‘human chair’. At Dunn’s River Falls, listening to the sound of water falling into the sea with your eyes closed is a great way to relax.

As wonderful as Ocho Rios is, it ranks only second to tourists. Montego Bay is the number one location in Jamaica. If you want first class, the beaches and resorts here are it. If lying in the sun all the time isn’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of adventures to be had.

In the virgin mountains, you can take an unforgettable ride with a rafting tour. If you are an experienced rafter, the canyon rafting tour might be to your liking as it is for serious rafters only. For a trip that is safe enough for seniors and children, the gentler Caliche Rainforest Rafting tour will be enjoyable.

If you want to swim with dolphins, try Dolphin Cove at Half Moon.

If partying is your style, the Negril resort area is for you. Those who like to party love Negril’s nightclubs, bars, and wild beaches.

Participate in one of the many water sports or just relax on the beach all day. After that shower and put on your best farewell clothes and try the bars. If you’re there on spring break, you can go crazy with college kids partying all night.

You can expect to find lots of fun and good times in Jamaica.
