A history of diamond necklaces

Found in almost any UK jeweler, diamond necklaces are extremely popular. They are a single diamond or a collection of diamonds that are worn on a chain around a person’s neck. With a much larger number of wealthy people in modern times, diamonds are generally bought much more frequently. This has resulted in the diamond subsidiaries being sold more as well. These subsidiaries include necklaces, among other things. Therefore, diamond necklaces are sold nationwide in much higher volumes than ever before. However, the exact models that are sold vary between retailers and the type of consumer who buys them.

Large diamond necklaces

There is a school of thought that believes that the bigger something is, the better it is. Looking at this statement in general, it certainly rings true for many things. For example, if someone wanted a quick one because they would normally go for the bigger engine. Or if someone wanted the most expensive car, they would probably have the biggest personality, hence the term supercar! Relative to diamond necklaces, large diamond necklaces can be immediately visible and physically have larger diamonds surrounding the chain. When Nicole Kidman wore what appeared to be the world’s largest diamond necklace at the Oscars in 2006, she certainly turned heads!

Small diamond necklaces

The other school of thought believes that all good things come in small packages. Looking at this statement in general, there does not appear to be any evidence that small is necessarily better. However, a closer look suggests otherwise. Going back to the car example: if the car engine is too big, there are many problems, such as fuel economy, drivability, insurance, etc. You can get an equally fast car by buying a small car with a small engine, be it a Mini Cooper S, an Ariel Atom, or even the best car of all, an F1 car. In relation to diamond necklaces, many of the cutest and prettiest diamond necklaces are the ones that are just that, cute and pretty. They look more elegant, more exquisite and leave much more to the imagination.

As discussed, diamond necklaces can be large or small. In fact, they could be any size. As long as they fit the person using it and there are enough consumers willing to buy the item, the manufacturers will create them and the retailers will sell them. Ultimately, the decision rests with the consumer and the purchase depends on the consumer’s individual taste. Some consumers prefer large diamond necklaces, others prefer small diamond necklaces. Either way, there is no right or wrong answer. It is a choice that consumers must make and hopefully they will be happy with their decision!
