Fantasy 2022 Wide Receiver
The NFL season is over, but the lessons learned from 2021 are still valuable for the next year’s fantasy wide receiver rankings. If you’re a 2022 owner, you’ll want to focus on the tiers one through three. Cooper Kupp is the league’s top WR in 2022, and he should be on your radar for that role. Matthew Stafford boosted his fantasy value by throwing to him 31% of the time last year.
Elijah Moore was drafted into a revolving door in the New York Jets organization. He’s not yet established as a starter in an offense that has yet to find its identity, and he’ll be competing with Zach Wilson for the majority of the season. Last season, Moore ranked #50 among Wide receiver rankings, but he didn’t start or play in all of the team’s games.
Another wide receiver to look out for is George Watson of Georgia. He was the biggest surprise of the pre-draft process, as his combination of size and speed makes him a dangerous target. His father, Tim Watson, was a safety in the NFL. Watson’s 40-yard dash time is sixth among wide receivers, and his broad jump average led all combine participants. Watson averaged 20.4 yards per reception in his career and returned two kicks for touchdowns.
Fantasy 2022 Wide Receiver Rankings
Keenan Allen was another high-end WR in the NFL in 2022, but his target share dipped from 24% in 2020 to 22% in 2021. Diontae Johnson, a steal in Round five, carried over his 26% target rate from 2020 to 2021. He finished as WR8 in 2021 despite fading the drop narrative and chasing target volume while overlooking Ben Roethland’s deteriorating arm.
The 35th WR on our wide receiver rankings is London, a former basketball player who excels in jump ball matchups. He tracked the ball well and secured passes with excellent body control. London had eight dropped passes and corralled a handful of off-target throws, but is nonetheless a capable wide receiver. While London lacks elite long speed, his explosiveness and wide catch radius make him a highly-regarded commodity in the NFL.

The second wide receiver in our fantasy 2022 ranks is Allen, who will be 30 years old this month. The veteran wide receiver was a valuable player on our team last season and is primed to continue his excellent production in 2022. Over the past five seasons, Allen has averaged 143.6 targets per season and has nearly tripled that number in 2021. In addition to his WR1 ranking, he collected 157 targets in 2021, which ranked him eighth overall. Moreover, his 9.8 receptions per game were fifth-highest in the league. He reached 100 receptions for the fourth time since 2017.
