The initiative taken by the Government of Haryana to invite investment in Gurgaon has led to active growth in knowledge-based industries, including information technology (IT) services. This idea has generated a high demand for space for official purposes, and as a result, residential properties are in demand.
Space for official purposes in corporate buildings as well as commercial centers such as Info City, IMT Manesar, Pace City and Udyog Vihar has led Gurgaon to become the commercial hub of India. Golf Course Road has become the central corporate office space with a number of Grade A buildings including Orchid Square, Vatika Towers, Global Foyer, Augusta Point, Centrum Plaza and Vipul Tech Square. Furthermore, Sohna Road is witnessing a frenzy of office space development by developers such as Omaxe, Bestech and Spaze.
Some other fast developing areas as commercial avenue are National Highway No.8, DLF Phase I, DLF Phase II, DLF Phase VI, Sohna Road, Sector 15 Part 2 and many more. The second largest US room provider Hilton Hotels Corp. and joint venture partner DLF Ltd have planned to make a $1.5 billion investment to build a hotel chain in India, approximately 60 to 70 hotels. In association with Inter Continental Group, Today Group has supplied a 235-room, five-star hotel on NH-8 opposite the Signature Towers. Vatika is also in the pipeline for hotel construction and one of them is the Westin Hotel on MG Road and it is expected to start operations before 2010. HUDA has publicly sold a large amount of land in sector 29 Gurgaon for the purpose of development related to hospitality. .
The health centers in Gurgaon are in the process of developing with world class facilities. One of these is Artemis Health Institute (AHI), a 500-bed super-specialty health center built by Artemis Health Sciences (AHS), a commercial healthcare company started by the promoters of Apollo Tires Group. Sector 38 in Gurgaon bears witness to a multi-disciplinary medical city called “MediCity”. It is being built by Dr. Naresh Trehan and the MediCity building also includes an R&D center, training institutes and a special synergy of unconventional and contemporary medicines for treatment to be set up in Gurgaon. The medical city has made the promise to bring a new era of medicine. It also plans to bring together superspecialties such as oncology, neurosciences, cardiology, and technically sophisticated orthopedics, among others. In addition, Ranbaxy Group of Companies has started work on its 950-bed hospital, Fortis International Institute of Medical Sciences, which is spread over an area of 10.7 acres of land in the heart of Gurgaon. Some other high-end hospitals in Gurgaon are Max Healthcare, Umkal, Privat, and Paras Hospital.
