Types of belly button piercing

Centuries ago, the Egyptians used to adorn themselves with different forms of body piercings. As for the navel piercing, only members of the royal family could do it. Anyone else who attempted to pierce one’s belly button could be sentenced to death. Modern times have been more tolerant, which is why interest in navel piercing burst forth with new force during the 1980s and 1990s.

These days, more and more people are getting a belly button piercing. And of course, the reasons for wearing this type of piercing differ from those of antiquity. Someone understands it by appearance. Someone else wants to have a secret place to show only special people. If you already have your own reasons for it, it’s time to think about the type to choose.

There are a few different modes of belly button piercing to choose from. Some of them depend on how big your belly is and whether your belly button is in or out. Depending on the location of the navel, the piercing is called an “innie” or an “outie”. Belly button piercings are also done on the top, bottom, or side of the belly button.

• The most accepted type of navel piercing is the “innie”. It is located just above the navel plug. When done correctly, it looks great, especially on a shapely abdomen. If you are not endowed with the proper anatomy, your piercing can also tear through the skin if it is too low.

• The “outie” piercing is to the left of your belly button. It is a rather complicated type of navel piercing since many blood vessels are concentrated in and around this plug. Because of this, blood loss may be more abundant. In addition, the risks of becoming infected are greater.

• The upper edge is the standard type of piercing, which is done at the top of the belly button ring.

• The bottom edge is made on the underside of the belly button ring.

• The sides are usually called piercings which are located on the sides of the belly button. These can be on the left or right side, anywhere between the upper and lower sides of the belly button ring.

It is possible to get up to four navel piercings. However, that doesn’t mean you can do them all at once. In such cases, you expose yourself to greater risks, as well as more profuse bleeding. The best idea is to get one belly button piercing at a time, wait for it to heal, and then think about another.
