Why call a sport like skydiving extreme, you might ask, when the sport itself seems to most people extreme out of the ordinary? Many people have put this on their individual “wish lists” as something to do before they die due to its extreme nature. Basically, you voluntarily jump out of a plane at your chosen height and dive into the hard ground of the earth at speeds of 125 miles per hour or more with basically a thin nylon parachute holding your destination.

Extreme skydiving comes into play when you take normal skydiving to the next level. There have been several different attempts to add some spice to the sport. Some people have taken extreme skydiving videos by using accessories like bikes, boxes, rafts, and even jet skis. There have even been videos in which real live breathing dogs, yes the animal of the canine species, have been filmed skydiving. The dog, of course, was tied to its owner’s chest in a specially made harness and submerged from a staggering 13,000 feet. Now if you can’t consider that extreme, I don’t know what you can!

Couples have even taken the initiative to get married while skydiving. A couple in Atlanta, Ga, dived from 14,000 feet. What an amazing home video it must be for the couple to share with their loved ones! I would love to have the courage to do something as daring as that, what an accomplishment.

Extreme skydiving videos come in all different types. You can find videos about base jumping and all the different varieties including base jumping with bikes, in caves, bridges, and even the tallest buildings in the world. Wingsuit base jumping is an amazing sport to watch. In fact, it seems that they are touching the mountains with their hands. Although jumpers look like bats as they soar through the sky.

While looking for new ways to make this sport exciting, there has been an extreme skydiving video about a sport created called Ski-Base Jumping, which is a combination of skiing and base jumping with the help of a parachute, of course. Free flight, extreme head-down skydiving, and skydiving are just a few other types that some brave men and women have tried.

There has even been a record when shooting extreme skydiving videos. In Chicago, 300 of the best skydivers in the world attempted to set a record for the largest skydiving formation. After 24 attempts, they finally set a world record after holding the formation for 7 seconds.
