This is not the case. You can shop for items or meals individually, by the week or by the month. You can go month to month or you can sign up for automatic delivery. This is not a contract and is really a feature that is there for convenience. Basically, with auto-delivery, the company automatically sends you a new order when your last one is finished until you cancel it (which you can do at any time). Basically, when you reach your goal and lose weight, you simply stop ordering without any additional commitment.
The monthly price of some popular Nutrisystem packs: Most women’s packages are the same cost for a month’s worth of food. The basic, silver, diabetic, and vegetarian packages for women are around $299 per month if you choose the auto-delivery option. If you don’t select automatic delivery, you’ll have to pay for shipping, which makes your monthly costs a bit higher. The men’s packages (which include basic, diabetic, silver, and vegetarian) cost about $30 more per month than the women’s plans.
The flexible package is the cheapest, starting at around $230 per month. However, it is important to understand that this huge discount is due to the fact that you are getting less food. The select program costs more because it includes restaurant-quality frozen food. It costs about $60 more than the basic plan, but many people find the extra cost worth it to get the “select” line of groceries.
Of course, all these prices are before using coupons. The company often offers some very good coupons that can either take a good chunk of money off your order or get you a few weeks worth of free food. However, these coupons are usually only offered on the packages.
The “Bill Me Later” option that sets lower monthly payments: When I explained some of Nutrisystem’s pricing to the woman who emailed me, she said she was sure she saw a payment or monthly billing option on the website. She probably meant the “bille me later” option. This is not a contract. Instead, it is a convenience that the company offers to its customers through a third party. I have not used this option, but I understand that you can sign up for payments for as little as $10 per month. I also understand that there is some monthly interest with this and you will need to sign up with the third party company to use this service.
Still, this payment option could be a decent deal for people who want to try this diet and be able to pay gradually or monthly without having to part with a larger sum all at once.
