Pros and Cons of Private Christian Schools

Christian schools are a type of private school specifically geared towards people of the Christian religion and because of this there are huge debates about their pros and cons. Christian schools offer a wide range of professions that include the teaching of Christian morals, ethics and knowledge of the Bible; they also have high standards of discipline and academic achievement that exceed most public schools. Although these are great positives there are also some disadvantages as it is not free and as a private school you will have to pay for education, knowledge in some fields including science and evolution is usually covered lightly or completely. due to the preconceptions of the Christian faith and finally does not allow social interaction between children who follow a different religion or simply none, which is also a great handicap in the way a child sees the world.

The level of education based on grades shows that Christian schools are above average. This is an important point for parents to consider. These higher grades are a big pro as they give your child a better chance for success after school. Christian schools offer mostly the same subjects as any other school, but find ways to include the ideals of Christianity and knowledge of the Bible. If you are a Christian, this is a great way to know that your children are being taught the ideals that you think are important.

There is also a higher level of discipline in Christian schools caused by several factors, including the smaller number making it easier to control and the stricter rules and consequences. Christian schools have a recognized level of discipline that makes them highly sought after and a great incentive for parents.

While all of that is great, there are some downsides to a Christian school as it is a paid education and this can put pressure on some families. Christian schools are not funded by the government, which allows them to hire their own teachers, whether they are licensed or not, and this of course can be a disadvantage as these teachers are not evaluated by government courses. Although this seems like a huge scam, Christian schools on average still maintain high test scores, which means they are most likely being taught competently. These teachers are usually hired for their knowledge of the Bible.

The Christian Schools can also deny or at least hinder the possibility of joining someone who is not of the Christian religion. This can cause segregation from the outside world, unlike public schools which can provide a very multi-cultural experience. This limits your social interaction with different types of people.

Christian schools have established a curriculum that generally limits exposure to some popular scientific methods, including evolution, which is denied by most of the Christian community based on knowledge of the Bible. Lack of exposure to these methods is not recommended as it denies children’s right to learn about conflicting ideas and ultimately to make their own decisions in life and faith.

In general, it depends on the family or background to see how these pros and cons will affect you or your children. This means that all the pros and cons should be weighed with that in mind, for example, if you are of a different religion, the cons will stand out more than for a Christian family who wants their children to learn Bible knowledge. In the end, the decision should be made after evaluating all possible outcomes and deciding which one is best for the intellectual and social growth of your children.
