Risk Vs Reward – Week 7

Week 6 treated me pretty well.

Two players in the end zone and one over a hundred yards. Close to perfection.

If you started with Damon Huard, you got 2 tds and 264 yds. A good result to complete a week of rest. If you started Jason Wright you got 1 td and 60 yards, well again if you were in a hurry for a RB. And finally, if you went with Bobby Engram, you got 120 yards, but no td. If you’re in a touchdown-only league, it didn’t help, but if there are yards involved, it did better than a lot of open outs.

Let’s see what I can dig up for you this week.

Andre Davis – WR Houston Texans

Davis has been very active since Andre Johnson’s injury. He has 1 touchdown and 296 yards, but it should be two touchdowns (he missed last week on the goal line). Johnson will sit down again this week to give Davis a chance to be the man again. I like Houston’s offense on this one, as Vince Young will likely be out, which means the Titan’s offense will likely be three-man and out for most of the day. Tennessee’s defense has been good against the run, so look to Schaub to air it out. I think Davis is good for 70 yards and a score.

Tarvaris Jackson – QB Minnesota Vikings

Yes, I’m taking a big chance here, but if Dallas wants to beat the Vikings, they’re going to have to stop Adrian Peterson. That’s where Jackson comes in. Did you see Minnesota play Chicago last week? When the Bears got an 8 in the box, Jackson’s center went for the long score. I think he should do it again against a suspect Cowboys secondary. I don’t expect big numbers, but Dallas can be beaten for the deep ball, and I’m looking to get Jackson to connect at least once.

Brian Leonard – RB St. Louis Rams

This is another stretch, in fact, if Earnest Graham is available in his league, it could be the best start. But in all my leagues (17 total), Graham is unavailable, Leonard is. Facing Seattle won’t be an easy afternoon, but I think Leonard will pull one out of the red zone. Brian has been running extremely well between tackles and that’s where the Hawks are vulnerable. Other than the game against the Ravens, he is averaging 70 yards per game. This game is a season finale for the Rams. At this point, they can no longer afford to lose and still make the playoffs. With Seattle still feeling the effects of the loss to New Orleans, this is as good a chance as St. Louis will ever get. I think the Rams still lose this game, but I think they will score 2-3 TDs. Leonard should be one of them.

Stealing cables from this week’s IDP Waiver League.

James Farrior – LB Pittsburgh Steelers

First of all, if you took my advice and picked Jon Beason last week, great job. He made 8 solo tackles last week and now that he’s starting full time in MLB, you can expect those kinds of numbers.

As for this week, I think James Farrior will be a big factor in the game against Denver. Farrior has 18 tackles and 4 sacks on the year and I expect him to rack up the tackles this week. He’s only in 48% of the CBS leagues, so if he’s available, I’d suggest picking him up.
