Wrestling Moves, Arm Drag Double Leg Takedown

One of my favorite fighting moves is Arm Drag. The Arm Drag has a couple of variations, but the basic techniques are the same. It’s easier to show you how to do this wrestling move than it is to explain it in an article. You can watch videos on how to do this on my blog, but for those who like to read, I’ll try to explain how to do an arm shuffle effectively.

What you’re trying to do with Arm Drag is clear your opponent’s arms so they can’t tie you up in a draw. You clean the tie using a waxing motion. That’s right, wax, like the original Karate Kid. You wipe his hand off your shoulder and move from his hand to your far side pocket. Then you have to catch his arm in the armpit as high as you can. Many fighters make the mistake of trying to drag someone by the elbow or triceps. You want to grab him as high as you can on his triceps. Even in the armpit if you can.

Once you’ve got your hand up his body and grabbed it as high as it will go on your arm, you need to pull it through your body and you need to penetrate at the same time. She doesn’t make the mistake of leaning back as she pulls him through his body. Make sure you pull and penetrate at the same time.

Arm Drag Finishes

There are three main ways to end an arm drag. There is a downward drag which is like a duck under which you drag your opponent to the ground and get behind them. Then there is a trip. You drag it and stumble at the same time. Then there’s an arm drag to a double leg finish, which is what I show how to do in a video on my blog.

When dragging a double, you must double once you have dragged the other fighter across your body and penetrated. You want to try and trap his arm between your chest and his body so he can’t defend double leg with a mage or something.
